Psalm 23 : 1 The Lord is my shepherd ; I shall not want
My first encounter with this bible verse gave me some confusion. "I shall not want" literally isn't it means King David does not want the Shepherd??? But soon or later i found out in NIV version, it used "I lack nothing" in term of "I shall not want". Then i found out that actually King David means since he had God as his shepherd, he had no other want and he lacked nothing. It is wonderful that in this verse i realized that it is very wonderful to live our life solely dependent on our Shepherd, then we will have no worries in this life as our Shepherd will give us protection, foods, guidance and love. Yea, yea, Our God will also give us protection from sin, regenerate our soul so that our soul can fight against sinful nature within us, spiritual bread (The Word) that can sustain us, guidance towards our eternal home and everlasting love. However, as His sheep, we must have faith in Him and everything He had done. For we know that salvation is by grace through faith in Lord Jesus Christ and Him crucified.
